Having my background rooted deeply in the world of Architecture, I love finding examples of people seeing the potential in something that has otherwise been forgotten about. Sometimes we walk right by spots in our lives that have been so far-gone, that no one even pays attention anymore.
Dwell Magazine did a great little article about a couple in Seattle that transformed a former lot on a street outside of Seattle that had more or less eroded into a dump, into a great new lot for their new home. Instead of hiring someone to do the construction, they took the time and care to do all of the work themselves. From concrete, to wood, to hot-rolled steel; the couple used an array of materials to create this great little house.
Imaginative design, attractive materials, plus a great story makes for a wonderful little project outside of Seattle in this profiled property in Dwell Magazine last month.
